Who we are

The Monarchs

 

The Charlotte Monarchs sports organization is a division managed by Desire Youth Sports and Educational Services, Inc. DYSE  Inc.  is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) youth sports and educational services organization based in Charlotte North Carolina. The team humbly began in  October 1998 with one boys' team ranging from 12-year old & under. Players were recruited to learn the game of basketball and educational mentoring year-round. The following year, the Monarchs expanded to add the girl's youth division starting with girls ages 11 & under. The Monarchs joined in the Amatur Athletic Union (AAU) that same year in 1999 taking the team participate in games and tournaments across the states in Connecticut, Illinois, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.  

 

The Monarchs have gained many supporters all across the Charlotte community over the years. One supporter, Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church offered a safe practice gym for the girls to practice and run skill sessions in located in Northwest Charlotte. 

 

Twenty years later, the Monarchs has grown its' philosophy for educating and providing a safe, fun, and committed team environment. Youth boys and girls  ranging from ages 9-18 years old come to learn the fundamentals of basketball,  physically grow in the sport, and become leaders in their schools and community.

The Monarchs has assisted many players to gain collegiate recognition and even scholarships to attend many colleges and universities in our area. Some of our players have gone on to Johnson C. Smith University, Wingate College, UNCC, and many more.

INTERESTING INFO
  • Beginning in the 1999 season, the 10 years & under Lady Monarchs ranked 4th at the AAU National Invitational Championship in Orlando, Florida.

  • During the 2000 season, the 10 years & under Boys' team finished 2nd at the State AAU Championships and the 13 years and & Boys' team finished 1st at the State (YBOA) Championship. 

INTERESTING INFO
  • In the 2001 season, the 14 & under Boys' team finished 1st at the State AAU Championship games.  

  • The 11 year & under Boy's team finished 4th in the YBOA National Championship in 2002. 

  • The 12 year & under Lady Monarchs ranked 1st at the State Games Championship of North Carolina which gave the team an automatic bid to represent the State of North Carolina at the State Games National Championship in Hartford Connecticut.
